When discovering facial yoga exercises, not every expectant mother decides to perform them, as most women mistakenly believe that gymnastics for facial muscles will stretch the skin and only worsen its appearance. Years of practice have proven the opposite: yoga for facial rejuvenation can slow down the skin aging process, replacing costly surgeries.
The positive effect of yoga exercises is based on strengthening the facial muscles, maintaining their tone, and improving tissue blood supply, which smoothes out wrinkles, eliminates sagging cheeks, and makes the skin firm and taut. By acting on subcutaneous fatty deposits, yogic gymnastics shapes a beautiful oval face, and relaxing spasmodic muscles restores symmetry to facial features.
You can improve the skin condition and get rid of wrinkles by performing special gymnastics and dedicating a quarter of an hour a day to facial beauty during pregnancy, sitting in a comfortable position and placing a pillow under your lower back if necessary. The exercises presented below are recommended to be practiced as a comprehensive set or selected individually for daily practice.
Inhale, then roll the air bubble around the perimeter of your mouth, first in one direction, alternately “touching” your lips and cheeks with it, then in the opposite direction. Perform 5-7 repetitions, allowing your muscles a small rest between them.
This exercise can be done using your tongue instead of the air bubble.
Push your chin as far forward as possible, hold the position, then return your chin back, pressing it into your chest, and remain in this pose. Then move the lower part of your face alternately to the right and left, pausing before each position change. Repeat the chin movements forward – back – right – left 5-7 times.
Exhale while tightly closing your lips and teeth, and tense your cheek muscles. Imagine you have a pen clamped in your mouth and you are trying your hardest not to let it be taken away. Ensure your lips do not protrude, and your facial expression remains natural. Hold for 10-20 seconds. As you inhale, slowly relax your facial muscles.
With your index fingers, gently lift the upper eyelids. Try to close your eyes while overcoming the resistance of your fingers for 3-5 seconds. With short rest intervals, repeat the movement 8-10 times.
Similarly, try to lift the slightly pulled-down lower eyelids, using your fingers to resist. Perform 8-10 repetitions of 3-5 seconds each.
Wink with your right eye while keeping it open, hold the position for 5-6 seconds. Do the same with the other eye. Perform these winks 5-7 times for each eye.
Smooth your forehead and express strong surprise by opening your eyes wide with effort. Hold for 10-20 seconds, then fully relax your muscles. Repeat the exercise 5-7 times.
Alternate between smiling and relaxing your facial muscles as quickly as possible. When you start losing the rhythm, take a short break, then repeat the movements.
Yoga exercises for facial rejuvenation require focus and inner peace. During practice, there should be no distracting sounds or objects in the room. Daily repetition of the technique affects mental state, teaches you to control facial expressions, and along with that, your emotions.
Facial yoga exercises should be performed with caution by expectant mothers with fragile blood vessels or those suffering from skin conditions. It is advisable to consult a doctor beforehand. The optimal time for sessions is in the morning before applying makeup or in the evening before bed. Starting with 5-10 minutes a day, a positive effect on the face can be noticed after a week of training, and after a month, the duration can be increased by 5 minutes weekly.
Practicing facial yoga during pregnancy is beneficial when combined with performing asanas that improve blood circulation in the head and cervical spine, help relax the body, and complement them with pranayama techniques to clear negative thoughts, fill with positive energy, and develop the ability to manage your emotions.
